Mr. Thomas F. Zenty, Sr., of 607 Jefferson Ave., Jermyn, Pennsylvania, passed away on the morning of March 25th, 2012. Mr. Zenty was born on December 9th, 1920, in Johnson City, New York. His parents and five siblings moved to Dickson City, Pennsylvania in 1924. He attended Dickson City Schools and graduated from Dickson City High School in 1938. He went on to attend the Johnson School of Technology and became a plasterman and a mason. Mr. Zenty joined the military shortly after World War II began and began serving in the Army's Ninth Armored Reconnaissance Division in the European theater. His four year European tour of duty included action in the Battle of the Bulge and the battle of The Bridge at Remagen. At the conclusion of the war, he spent time on military assignments in Paris prior to returning to the United States. After the war, Tom married Edna Wilkos and lived in Jermyn beginning in 1949. He worked as a machine operator at Hoffman, now The Chamberlain Corporation, and retired after 35 years of service. Over the years, Tom loved to fish and golf. Tom is survived by his wife, Edna and their two children, Mary Ann Henderson and her husband, Randy, of Spokane, Washington and Thomas F. Zenty, III of Shaker Heights, Ohio. The family prefers that those who wish may make contributions in his name to the Harrington Heart and Vascular Institute, c/o University Hospitals, 11100 Euclid Ave., Cleveland, OH 44106. A Funeral Mass will be held in Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Parish, 624 Madison Ave., Jermyn, PA, Saturday, March 31st at 9 AM, with visitation at the church from 8-9 am. Jermyn, PA.
