WILLIAM L. MAU, age 89, of Shaker Heights, Ohio, passed away August 28th, 2011. Bill was the beloved husband of Carol B. nee Belding and the dear father of Bryan W. Mau Tina Gramm of Arlington, MA, Merrill E. Mau of Shaker Hts., OH and Kenyon M. Mau Laura Steinbrink of Westlake, OH. He was the dear grandfather of Kailey E. Mau, Brandon Novak and Kenyon William Mau and the brother of the late Stuart Mau. Bill was a 1940 graduate of Shaker Heights High School and a 1944 graduate engineer of Case Institute of Technology of Cleveland, Ohio. Bill served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was part of the Army of Occupation in Japan. Bill began his engineering career with the American Spring Wire Company, working as a sales engineer. After a couple of years of gaining experience, he joined his father's firm, the National Rolled Thread Die Company. Bill's brother, Stuart, also became part of the family business. Bill retired as President of the company in 1992. After retirement, and for many years, Bill gave back to his old high school by becoming a volunteer tutor for math students. Bill was an long time member of the Plymouth Church Bowling league, an avid volleyball player and in the 1970's began learning Karate, rising to the skill level of "Brown Belt." Bill also loved professional football and had a strong allegiance to "America's Team", the Dallas Cowboys! Family services will be held.
