William Robinson

September 17, 1941 — June 12, 2013

Will Robinson was born in Detroit, and raised in Birmingham, Michigan. He was the oldest of six children, four boys and two girls. He went to Holy Name grade school in Birmingham, and graduated from Birmingham High School. He met his wife, Stevie, at a Holy Name Teen Club dance in 1957 and they were married in 1965. They have two boys: Ted, an attorney who specializes in environmental law in Pittsburgh and Joe, a music journalist who lives in Brooklyn, New York.

Will started working from his early teens and put himself through Wayne State University, getting a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. He worked in banking, starting at Manufacturer's National Bank and City National Bank in Detroit. The family moved to Shaker Heights, Ohio in 1978 where he continued working as a commercial lender for Central National Bank of Cleveland/Key Bank and retired from Bank One of Cleveland as a First Vice President and Senior Corporate Lender.

Will loved his family and friends, and his dog Winston. He had a great sense of humor, a quick wit, integrity and honesty. If you were his friend, you had a friend for life. He enjoyed travel, music, history, photography, collecting toy soldiers, cars, boats and planes. His favorite car was his own Cobra Kit Car, green with gold stripes. (HH colors, do you believe?).

Will was very involved with his two sons and through the years he also mentored others. His love of lacrosse led him to be very active with the North Coast Chapter of US Lacrosse where he was honored with Man of the Year award and received the same honor from the Ohio High School Lacrosse Coaches' Association. He was a strong believer in the role sports have in helping develop character and he combined his love of lacrosse with this belief.
