William "Scott" Stone, 52, of Little Egg Harbor, New Jersey, formerly of East Springfield, Ohio passed away February 9th, 2024 after a motor vehicle accident. He was born October 13th, 1971, in Steubenville, Ohio.
After completing his education at Edison South High School and the Jefferson County JVS Carpentry Program, he embarked on a successful military career in the United States Army. He demonstrated exceptional leadership skills and bravery while serving in the 101st Airborne Air Assault Division during Operation Desert Storm, culminating in his promotion to the rank of Sergeant. He was honorably discharged after eight years of service.
Following his time in the military, Scott went on to earn two bachelor's degrees: one in computer programming and another in elementary education. He worked as a math teacher for 10 years and he also founded a Snapology franchise in Hammonton, NJ., where he facilitated innovative Lego-based learning experiences.
Scott had a passion for the outdoors, particularly kayak fishing, camping, and sharing laughter with loved ones by the campfire. His interests during cooler weather included improving his fitness at his local gym, attending Comic Cons, learning cutting-edge technology, and training his beloved service dog, MK-19. His greatest love was reserved for his children, whom he adored spending time with. Be it playing video games, camping, or running errands, he treasured every moment with them.
Scott may be gone, but he left behind countless individuals whose hearts are heavy without him. Those mourning Scott's passing include his devoted parents Ron and Linda Stone of East Springfield, OH, his beloved siblings Amanda (Robert) Flint and Amy (David Bowden) Bennett, the women who raised his beautiful children Kimberly Dear-McGrew and Cheryl Driscoll, his precious kids Tyler (Kelsey) Westfall, Evalyn Stone, and Grayson Stone, and his delightful grandsons Mason, Rosalie, and Oliver, not forgetting an extensive community of family and friends.
He will be greeted in Heaven by his savior, Jesus Christ, his older brother, Ron "Big Daddy" Stone, and his best friend, John Weddington.
A memorial service will be held March 9th, 2024 at the Beacon of Light Church. 8247 Amsterdam Rd SE, Amsterdam, OH 43903. Visiting hours are from 1:00pm-2:30pm with refreshments to follow.
Military honors will be provided by the Amsterdam, Ohio VFW Post 232.
