Anne Motch Barnes, 85 of Waite Hill and Chagrin Falls, Ohio died on April 6, 2020. Anne, daughter of Elton Franklin and Dorothy Stearns Motch was born in Cleveland, Ohio on October 27, 1934. After graduating from Hathaway Brown School, Anne attended Briarcliff College. She married U.S. Air Force First Lieutenant Patterson Barnes in 1956 and they spent their first years of marriage stationed at Dover (Delaware) Air Force Base.
Anne and Pat returned to their native Cleveland to raise their family. Joining daughter Linda Barnes Higgins (David), born in Delaware, Anne and Pat had two more children, Julia Patterson Barnes (Stacey Alatis) and Benjamin Patterson Barnes (Deborah).
Devoted to her husband and children, Anne made a home for her family in Waite Hill for fifty four years. She was a leader in many civic and cultural institutions including Hanna Perkins Center for Child Development, Recreation League of Cleveland, Cleveland Botanical Garden and Shaker Lakes Garden Club.
Anne spent the last few years of her life living at South Franklin Circle, Chagrin Falls, Ohio.
Anne was preceded in Death by her husband Pat and brother, Elton Franklin Motch II and is survived by her three children and six grandchildren: Avery Alatis-Danilowicz (Jon), Thomas Wilson Higgins, Sarah Anne Higgins, Anna Patterson Barnes, Daniel Wilder Barnes, Georgia Shea Barnes, and her devoted friend and caregiver Felicia Billups.
